Update for the “My NDIS Mobile App”: What Participants Need to Know

Feb 13, 2026

The NDIS is rolling out an important update to the my NDIS mobile app starting February 2026. This update is designed to make the app easier to use, more accessible, and simpler to navigate for all participants.

Whether you manage your plan independently or get help from an NDIS provider, this update aims to improve your experience without changing how you manage your NDIS plan. In this blog, we learn more details about it:

What Is the My NDIS Mobile App?

The my NDIS mobile app works together with the my NDIS participant portal and the myplace portal. These tools allow participants to:

  • View and manage their NDIS plans
  • Make and track claims
  • Upload invoices and receipts
  • Self-manage NDIS funding more easily

Many participants also use the app with support from an NDIS service provider or a trusted disability support worker.

When Will the Update Happen?

The update will begin in February 2026.

  • Some phones will update automatically
  • Others will receive a notification asking you to update the app manually

There is no change to how you manage your NDIS plan, only improvements to how the app looks and works.

Accessibility Improvements in the Updated App

The NDIS has worked closely with participants through surveys and testing to improve accessibility. These changes will help users of all abilities.

Key Accessibility Updates

The app will now:

  • Be more predictable and easier to learn
  • Show clearer error messages and guidance
  • Support large text, so you can choose your preferred font size
  • Offer dark mode, if enabled in your phone settings
  • Improve VoiceOver support by removing announcements after every keystroke

These updates are especially helpful for participants supported by a disability service provider or those using screen readers.

Changes for Participants on SAP Plans

If your NDIS plan is on the SAP CRM system, you’ll notice a few extra updates.

Improved Claim Filtering

  • Filters in Claim History are now clearer and match the Enquiries design

New Order of Claiming Steps

  • The steps appear in a different order
  • The information you provide stays the same

Better Notifications

  • Plan extension updates will now appear in a notification menu
  • No more pop-up interruptions

Changes for All App Users

These updates apply to all app users and are designed to improve the overall experience without changing how the app works.

Updated Sign-In Experience

  • The sign-in page will look different
  • The process is smoother and more secure

New Feature: Smart Prompts When Claiming

When making a claim, the app may show a helpful prompt if something doesn’t look right.

For example:

  • If the description doesn’t match an NDIS support
  • If key information seems missing

You can:

  • Confirm the information is correct
  • Edit and fix it before submitting

These prompts are not AI-generated. They are there to reduce errors and speed up claim approvals.

New Feature: Invoice Recognition (Apple iPhone Users)

For iPhone users, the app now includes invoice recognition.

This feature:

  • Checks if your upload is a valid invoice or receipt
  • Alerts you if the image is blurry or unreadable
  • Asks you to upload again if needed

This makes life easier for participants and NDIS providers, helping with claims. Android support may come later.

Easier Date Selection

The app’s date picker will now match your phone’s design.

You can:

  • Select a date from the calendar
  • Or manually type the date

This keeps the experience familiar and simple.

Better Navigation and Menus

The updated app includes:

  • Simpler menus
  • More swipe-based navigation
  • Improved experience for screen reader users

This makes the app easier to use for participants and carers, including those receiving disability support.

Updated Navigation Icons

We’ve refreshed the navigation icons to make them clearer, more consistent, and easier to recognise at a glance.

  • All navigation icons are now the same size
  • Icons are outlined when not selected
  • Selected icons become filled with a teal line above

This helps you clearly see where you are in the app.

Plan Enhancement: Your Goals Page

We’ve improved the “Your Goals” page to help you keep track of your goals and see how your NDIS plan supports them:

  • No text limit anymore
  • Text boxes replaced with lists
  • Less scrolling
  • Better accessibility and readability

This is especially useful during plan reviews with your NDIS service provider.

Need Help or Have Questions?

If you experience any issues after the update:

  1. Contact the National Contact Centre
  2. Request support or submit feedback in the app:
  3. More → Settings → Provide feedback

Many participants also choose to speak with a trusted disability support worker or their NDIS provider for extra help.

Final Thoughts

The upcoming NDIS mobile app update is designed to improve accessibility, clarity, and ease of use without changing how you manage your plan.

These enhancements make it easier for participants, carers, and disability service providers to navigate the app with confidence, ensuring information is clear and support is always within reach.

By keeping the app simple and accessible, everyone can stay focused on what matters most: achieving NDIS goals, building independence, and maintaining choice and control.
